Obituaries » Roger Dingus

Roger Dingus, 59, of Warrenton, loving husband and father, passed away April 1, 2021, of complications from COVID-19.

Roger was born July 27, 1961, in Kingsport, Tennessee, to Dairus and Rachel Dingus.

On April 28, 1984, he married Vickie Pruitt. They raised two sons, Zachary and Nicholas.

Roger graduated from Fauquier High School in 1979 and attended George Mason University. He served many years in the construction industry and was operations manager of Fair Oaks Mall at the time of his passing.

Roger was a passionate outdoorsman who treasured all aspects of fishing. Whether fly fishing quiet mountain streams or surf fishing the crashing Atlantic waves, Roger pursued the sport with tireless dedication. He loved and admired the fine craftsmanship of antique shotguns. He mastered their use on the skeet, trap and sporting clays fields. He loved baseball and assisted both of his sons in their passion for the sport as coach of their league teams. Roger was known for his quick wit and a gentle and compassionate spirit.

Roger was preceded in death by his grandparents; his nephew, Mathew Dingus, and his sister-in-law, Vickie T. Pruitt.

He is survived by his wife Vickie of 36 years; his sons, Zachary and Nicholas; his parents, Dairus and Rachel; his brothers, Steve (Janna) and Jeffrey (Laura Lagaly); his niece, Stephanie (Evan) Straub; his great nephew, Emory Straub; his nephew Kyle and brother-in-law Mike Pruitt.

A memorial gathering will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 12, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you may generously make donations to: American Cancer Society, 124 Park St. S.E., Vienna, Va. 22180.
