Sarah Elizabeth Smith Ait, 99, of Warrenton, our beloved mother, entered her heavenly home on the evening of December 27, 2021.
Sarah was born in Gainesville, on April 7, 1922, and would have been 100 years old on her birthday. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Smith and Mary Elizabeth Fletcher Smith.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Albert Joseph Ait; seven brothers and sisters, and her grandson Ryan Luke Kidd.
Sarah is survived by three daughters, Darlene Bledsoe and husband Curtis, Joette Cernoch and husband Dan, and Patricia Alvey and husband James; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Rebekah, Joshua, Kristen, Jonathan and Ashley, and 14 great-grandchildren.
In her younger years she loved to sew dresses for her daughters and later had her own drapery business. She worked for the State Department as an administrator In the photography department. She was a member of Gainesville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. Later she and her family attended the Warrenton Assembly of God Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 3, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. A graveside service for immediate family will be held Tuesday, January 4,.
