Simon W. Byler, 84, of Catlett, departed his earthly body peacefully on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Noble Senior Living in Culpeper.
Born July 28, 1937, in Dover, Del., on July 28, 1937, he was the son of William and Lydia (Bender) Byler. At 9 years of age Simon and his family moved to a farm in Catlett, where he grew up and made his career. He was a long time active member of Faith Christian Fellowship.
On December 11, 1960, He married Cora Ann (Gingerich), who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Delores and her husband, Thomas Hostetler of Plain City, Ohio; four sons, Galen of Dry Ridge Ky., Harold and his wife Tammy of Sherrill’s Ford, N.C., Jay and his wife Brenda of Catlett and Jerry of Catlett; seven grandchildren, Vincent (Joanna), Hostetler, Rachel (Durrel) Fox, Kara Byler, Andrew Byler, Geoffrey (Annelise) Byler, Devon Byler and Adrianna Byler; six great grandchildren, and a sister, Martha Yoder of Culpeper VA.
He was preceded by his parents; a brother, Alvi; his sisters, Anna Mary, Saloma, Irene, Cora and Rhoda; an infant brother and sister, and great-granddaughter.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 30, at Dayspring Mennonite Church in Midland. The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, December 31, at the church, with burial to follow at Faith Christian Fellowship Cemetery.
