Susan A. Nell, 65, of Warrenton, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 3, 2019, at the Capital Caring Adler Center in Aldie.
She was born January 21, 1954, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, to the late Wayne B. and Helen (Myers) Cooke.
Susan was a retired third-grade teacher at C.M. Bradley Elementary School in Warrenton and a longtime volunteer with the Salvation Army. She fought a courageous battle against leukemia and ITP (immune thrombocytopenic purpura), all the while supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk alongside her family and friends.
Susan is survived by her husband, Stewart V. Nell; her daughter, Carrie E. Fitch (Zack) of Winnabow, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Skylar and Lydia Fitch; her sister, Sandra Vogelsong (Charles) of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, and her two fur babies, Roxii Roo and Riley Nell.
Services will be held in the Cocklin Funeral Home in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. A celebration of Susan’s life also will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 16, The Bridge Community Church, 8774 James Madison Highway, Warrenton.
Contributions may be made to a legacy fund in her memory at C.M. Bradley Elementary School, 674 Hastings Lane, Warrenton, Va. 20186.

She will be missed. What a sweet soul. From the moment we met- I felt she was a part of my heart. Such a loss. Such a wonderful person. The Bridge Community Church and I are so saddened by this loss but so blessed to have known her. Linda Spencer
