So as to not further confuse some readers, several of whom have contacted me about this, it is necessary to clarify the false and misleading information provided by Ms. Ward. Isopropyl alcohol is and has been readily available in many retail outlets and supply houses locally and across the state, for the last four months. The people who can't find it are the people who don't know where to look (among other things). I have yet to try to purchase any and come up empty handed. What I had tested recently was the same product - isopropyl alcohol, in this case 91%. I did not have any hand sanitizer analyzed because I do not use hand sanitizer. So Ms. Ward's "of course you aren't going to find any at this time" remark is completely disjointed. That is not the product I had tested, not the product I was referring to, and not a product that I ever look for. Isopropyl alcohol is not the product that was voluntarily pulled from the stores' shelves. There has been no recall of isopropyl alcohol, nor have there been any reports of contaminated batches of isopropyl alcohol. Facts matter.
This is how liberal thinking works - say whatever comes to mind and then represent it as fact. The problem is, the popular game of "fact checking" cuts both ways, and sometimes, well, the liberals get caught in their own tangled webs. Isn't that right, Ms. Ward?
Tell me, is this also a "BFD," in your crude gutter parlance?

Low and behold, they have 70% isopropyl alcohol at Harris Teeter now. It certainly wasn't there months ago when I made our hand sanitizer, hence why I purchased drinking alcohol from the distillery. My assertion is definitely false now, but it WASN'T several months ago. I had stopped looking and didn't know the stores had restocked. OK, I'll eat that one...............BFD.
Now as to the ones with toxic wood alcohol, all of that stock has been PULLED from the shelves, so of course you aren't going to find any at this time.
Not surprised you haven't saved any jobs, you probably don't even tip.
You march to your own drum, don't you sweetheart? Good for you. Good for you. Take care, be well (not that I care), and don't let the COVID bug bite ya.

Yes, you can buy 70% isopropyl nearly anywhere. The last time I was in Orange, I stopped by the CVS and bought two 10 ounce bottles of 91%. There were plenty on the shelf and also four larger bottle of the same product. Numerous bottles of other isopropyl mixtures also in stock. So your assertion that it can't be bought easily is false. Similarly, having heard the fake news reports of contaminated products, I submitted a sample from one bottle for a chromatography analysis, and the results, not surprisingly, were that the product contained nothing other than what was listed in contents on the label. So your assertion that there are harmful chemicals in all - or even any - CVS isopropyl products is also false. You just can't help yourself, can you? If you read it on the InterNet, it has to be true!
I didn't ask you for list of your friends - I asked you for a list of the people whose jobs at the wineries that you claim to have saved. Wouldn't that be worthy of a feel good newspaper article in these depressing times? LINDA WARD SAVES JOBS! While I frequently patronize my favorite small businesses and restaurants, I don't know that I personally have saved even a single job. That is quite a claim you make and I think you should have no problem backing it up. If you're so good at this, perhaps governor CM Blackface Klan Robes would be interested in harnessing your powerful economic recovery capabilities? After destroying so many small businesses in the Commonwealth, maybe the thought has occurred to him that something more than bungling is needed to help these people survive.

Correction "heard" not "hard".

BiggerPicture - No, you can not buy 70% alcohol just anywhere? 100 proof vodka is only 50% alcohol. ABC only sells up to 120 proof liquor which is 60% alcohol. The suggested level of alcohol needs to be at least 60% alcohol in order to kill most viruses, 70% is better. Solutions of 70% alcohol should be left on surfaces for 30 seconds (including cellphones) to ensure they will kill viruses. Pure (100%) alcohol evaporates too quickly for such use.
If a person could buy 70% alcohol (140 proof) ANYWHERE we would have a line of alcoholics at the grocery store buying it there, not at an official ABC.
Why make my own hand sanitizer? Because it's cheaper and I know what other ingredients are in it. Haven't you hard about the hand sanitizer coming from Mexico that was being sold at Walmart and CVS that contained toxic methanol, or wood alcohol. https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/fda-expands-hand-sanitizer-recall-least-75-brands-across-u-n1234246
My thought processes are fine thank you very much. Now let's talk about you and your friends..........it's not your or their fault, ya'all just don't know any better.
Could you please provide the names of the people you CALL friends? Your dogs don't count.

Why on earth would anyone go to a distillery just to buy 70% alcohol? You can buy 70% alcohol almost anywhere. Why not buy the finished hand sanitizer product? You know, the product made by the all of those people who's jobs you saved? As I noted before, there is something seriously wrong with your thought process. My response is delayed because I asked 11 of my friends and neighbors what they were doing for hand sanitizer, and then showed them Ms. Ward's reply. "There's something seriously wrong with her thought process," they said.
Could you please provide a list of the names of the people who's jobs you saved by purchasing 70% alcohol at a distillery?
donk comments 8/18/19 he/she is/was a lawyer .. offered to represent one guy .. donk moved 3 now 4 years ago from los angeles .., good lead on the name

Thanks...I can tell...
Doesn't ANYONE recognize sarcasm anymore?
Admittedly one would have to read the entire string to COMPLETELY recognize that I was being very sardonic/sarcastic. <: <: <:

Hey oconn- Linda Ward is a complete self-loathing, liberal nut-job. She does not even like humans. She pretends she cares about the virus but yet she has said she does not even like humans. She wants everyone dead.
Linda Ward August 17 2019 - "The human species is doomed, and the sooner we are gone the better for the planet. The Earth will not miss us!"
"Not only do I feel that way, I believe it wholeheartedly. Humankind is a cancer spreading and killing everything all over this planet."
You sound like you have a real pleasant personality and I will bet you are a complete joy to be around.
BiggerPicture - Where do you think I bought the 70 % alcohol to make my hand sanitizer? The distillery of course.
oconn - My life is really good. Sounds like yours sucks. Too bad, so Sad. Bye-Bye. Wasting time here.
If 'they' vote their 'mind' they are siding with PDJT.
If 'they' vote against PDJT they are against themselves.
Like I had said earlier....Don't throw me in that Briar Patch and had to 'explain' what it means/meant.
Kind of like when all the groups get together for whatever and are facing off?
Are you for the Crips, Bloods, BLM, KKK, MS13ers, Anifa' Skinheads etc OR does your IDGAF just kick in and you kind of hope they leave an 'empty battlefield full of corpses'
Someone please help me understand. For the 182 people who so far voted no on this one, are you liberals who just hate the president and his quote? Are you conservatives who love the president but hate to see him giving in to science? Who are the people saying that wearing a mask, as directed by the president (late but better than never), is not patriotic? Help here?

My "problem" is the kind of nonsensical remarks that you make and keep making. You state that you, "...made our own hand sanitizer," then crow about saving distillery jobs in Virginia. If you made your own, then you didn't buy it from the people who's jobs you claim to have saved. There is something seriously wrong with your thought process.
And we all noticed that you had nothing to say (a rare event, indeed!) on the prickly subject of the mass public gatherings in the name of "social justice," where the CCP virus spread no doubt had a field day, nor on the clumsy, bumbling actions and inactions of CM Black Face Klan Robes. You have to touch on all of the topics, not just the ones that suit you.
No one took my tests or did my homework for me; to have engaged in that kind of dishonest behaviour would have led to immediate expulsion from the schools I attended. I'm big on honesty and integrity. Perhaps you aren't.
Say, isn't time for Mr. Bentley to swoop in and try to rescue you? Like he, uh, did the last time? Oh, yeah, that didn't go too well, did it?
Whatever happened to having a conversation without all the smarmy and insulting remarks.
One can make a much better point if they stick to facts and actualities and not being insulting.
Don't forget 'Coon Man' showing up in Va Beach the day BEFORE his statewide edict about masks and he was working the crowd sans mask.
His 'answer'... I left it in my car or some such drivel.
I carry and have a permit etc...When going to Grandsons ball games I had a choice to carry or leave it in my truck.
I figured it was better where it was -it is called concealed for a good reason- ANYHOW, had something come up and I had gotten 'caught' I guess a good viable answer would have been 'I forgot I had it on me'.....
Wanna buy a bridge????
Also, I do suspect those #s and it is 'proven' on a daily basis 'we misread' something or other - I wonder if someone bothers to go back and CHANGE the 'bottom line'...
Now, about that bridge.....
BiggerPicture - I don't need you owing me anything, and I definitely don't want or need your gratitude.
What I did and do is educate myself on what is happening, and made our own hand sanitizer (making hand sanitizer has saved a bunch of distilleries and jobs from going under right here in Virginia, so what's your problem?)
Of course this isn't all the IMPOTUS fault. There were a lot of idiots that listened to him and thought it was no big deal. That's on them. He's just a mouth piece for the morons, and since they can't think for themselves they listen to and believe his garbage. I have no empathy or sympathy for them if they become ill. Too bad, so sad. Next!
Did you pay someone to take all your tests and do your homework too?
What is laughable are some of the ignorant remarks and glaring omissions of fact made in these posts. I suppose we owe Ms. Ward a debt of gratitude for, "...wearing masks since the beginning, social distancing and washing hands." Perhaps she should be giving the daily CCP virus briefs, eh? Obviously an expert (on everything). No mention of the thousands of pounds of toilet paper and gallons of hand sanitizer that she and her liberal comrades bought. I guess that strategy wasn't very effective....so we won't talk about it.
Yet, the number of infections and deaths continues to rise. Virginia has now seen over 80k cases (more than 500 in Fauquier), more than 7.8k hospitalizations and more than 2k deaths. And this is the president's fault? How about pinning the blame on the civil disorders and your precious Burn Loot Murder rallies, where those "activists" can't be bothered with wearing masks? And of course no mention of Governor CM Black Face Klan Robes appearing numerous times in public with no mask...ooops, doesn't fit the liberal narrative, so we won't talk about that, either.
Are any of you educated beyond the fifth or sixth grade?
ANYTHING PDJT says or does, a certain 'element' will go against it.
He starts 'promoting' masks and the 'element' will be banning them.
He should sign an Order that everyone HAS to inhale/exhale every few seconds.
By the time y'all figure out what he did by 'promoting' masks, YOU will be banning them because he appears to be for them.
DON'T throw me in that briar patch!!!
"At least if wears a mask now we won't be seeing him talking out of both sides of his mouth."
No, but we can still hear him talking out of his @55.
In my honest opinion (IMHO), Trump's comments were necessary because his poll numbers are diving. I would bet Big Bucks his minions drafted the summary to make him look "Presidential" and that "he cares about the American public." IMHO, he really doesn't care about you or me or anyone else because it is always about him! When he spoke, one could easily see that there was little to no emotion or conviction in his words. The man lacks empathy! In essence, he gave a news conference for PR purposes. The man has NO CREDIBILITY anymore. How can folks still support this malignant narcissist who continues to destroy our democracy and Constitution?
This is laughable. I guess his light bulb just came on. The smart people have been taking precautions for months. This is the country leading it's president. At least if wears a mask now we won't be seeing him talking out of both sides of his mouth.
We have been wearing masks since the beginning, social distancing and washing hands.
Trump saying we should wear them NOW and that it is patriotic to do so is TOO LATE, he should have said this when the experts told us to do so. Trump is FAR from an expert on anything but LYING.

I just recovered from the invisible virus and it's probably the worse sickness I have gone through. I hope you don't have to endure this as well. Because I do wear a mask, I did not spread the virus among the people I was close with since this mutated version comes along as a very bad food poisoning to start with no fever at all. I lost 20 pounds in three days to start.....patriotic and smart....
July 22, 2020 at 12:30 pm
While that particular quote has all kinds of problems, wearing a mask is patriotic. Patriotism is more than just waving flags and standing for the anthem. Patriotism is about doing everything we can to make America successful. Preventing the spread of disease by embracing our social responsibility to wear a mask should be seen by all Americans as being patriotic.
July 22, 2020 at 10:33 am
The most patriotic thing anyone could do now is to vote. And if you think that 142,000 American deaths is leadership, then you should vote for Trump again.
Trump was right about one thing, it is going to get WORSE before it gets better, thanks to his INCOMPETENCE.
This is the United States of America, we SHOULD HAVE BEEN better than this FUBAR situation. Yet, when you have a FUBAR POSPOTUS it was bound to happen.
“We are United in our effort to defeat the Invisible China Virus, and many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can’t socially distance. There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!”
Everything about that statement is BS especially the last part. IT should be "There is nobody more phony than me, your WORST Impeached President of all time."
