What grade do you give the board of supervisors over the last 3 years?

With a year left on their terms, all five members have indicated they plan to seek re-election in November 2019.

Results speak for themselves: This is a great place to live.

Agreed with Lewis: Attend meetings, get involved -- lead, follow or get out of the way.

Holder Trumbo, Rick Gerhart and Mary Lee McDaniel do the most good from my POV, but there are none involved who've failed us. I give the BOS a solid B+ or A-.

We needn't always agree. I am no fan of tax-funded conservation easements, for example, but Lincoln put it best: If two people agree on everything we don't need one of them.

Broadband is evolving. With patience we should reap the rewards of 5G, though it will involve ubiquitous small cell deployment that will push the edges of our community's cooperation.

I am not sure the grade's shown as of end of day this Friday are what are deserved. We do feel so many issues that were open 3 years ago still remain open:

1. Our county has major issues with infrastructure.
a. Roads
b. Telecommunications
c. Sewer
d. Water
2. Water and Sewer to the citizens / Villages. (ALL of them)
3. Taxes. (Assessments are out of control)
4. Coffers to big builders. (Why not pay as you develop and not
pay when completed?)
5. Relationships with towns and the county. Always some issue at
hand, people, land, offices, etc etc)

And I could go on. Yes its a growing County (or should be) and yes
its not as easy as it should be but consider the following:

What percentage of our county HAVE attended a monthly Board of Supervisors meeting? (My guess would be 1% and I DO attend whenever possible)

What percentage of our county HAVE NOT attended a monthly Board of Supervisors meeting? (My guess would 99%)

Same two questions for YEARLY BUDGET meetings apply....and OH possibly the same % apply.

Until we meet and demand our Board to perform, and if they do not replace them at the next election, we can only blame ourselves.

I urge my fellow citizens to attend the meetings, voice your opinions. Then and only then could we make an assessment that would mean a hill of beans.

God Bless The United States of America and Fauquier County.

Semper Fi, as we said in the Corps, "Lead, Follow or get the H++l out of the way"

Progress on broadband, service district infrastructure, and economic development initiatives are bringing commercial developers back. Keeping the momentum going for investments and land use reforms will benefit taxpayers.
