A professional runner with the New Balance, Bowman zipped around parts of the course, encouraging and slapping hands with participants.

During the awards ceremony, the San Diego resident and 2005 FHS grad thanked Race Chairwoman Leslie Wise for inviting her home to help with the event.

The Blue Ridge Orthopaedic Foundation will distribute more than $20,000 it raised with the event to a range of non-profit organizations in the community.

The races started and ended at the Warrenton Recreation and Aquatic Facility.
