A 30-year-old man from Washington, D.C., has been arrested in connection with a series of vehicle larcenies that occurred in late October, according to a press release from the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office.
On Saturday, the U.S. Marshalls and Metropolitan Police Department charged Reco Thompson with credit card theft, credit card fraud and obtaining money by false pretense in Fauquier County.
According to Sgt. William Kemper, public information officer with the sheriff's office, Fauquier deputies on Oct. 26 responded to multiple calls of reported vehicle larcenies on the 3300 block of Boathouse Road, the 7300 block of Lake Willow Drive, the 5100 block of Island Court, 3400 Crew Court and the 4400 block of Springs Run Road
Kemper said several victims reported that credit cards, U.S. currency, two firearms and other miscellaneous items were stolen from their vehicles. The victims also provided video surveillance, which captured an individual entering their vehicles.
During the investigation, Fauquier detectives identified Thompson from the video footage and worked closely with the U.S. Marshalls and Metropolitan Police. One of the firearms was located, and multiple items purchased with the stolen credit cards were also recovered.
"The FCSO would like to thank the US Marshalls and Metropolitan Police for their assistance with this case," Kemper said in the release.
Kemper noted the incident is still under investigation.
