Fauquier career and volunteer first responders conducted "Firefighter Rescue Training" this week near Upperville.

Focused on helping a colleague in distress, the morning and afternoon drills took place Tuesday through Friday, May 14-17, at a county-owned home, donated for emergency services training.

Instruction included sessions on ladders, window bailouts, hose hoist, air packs, thermal imaging, Rapid Intervention Team operations, Mayday response, rescuing an unconscious firefighter and search and rescue with firefighter personal tracking devices.

Battalion Chief Natasha Randall led the training.

Fauquier has a combined career/volunteer fire and rescue system.
